About Callaway Golf:

The Callaway Golf Company is based in Carlsbad, California. This company makes a complete line of golf equipment which includes: woods, irons, wedges, putters and golf balls. They also have (license) a line of Callaway brand name for apparel, footwear, timepieces and accessories.

Callaway Golf’s history is interesting. The company was founded by Ely R. Callaway Jr. who was from Lagrange, Georgia. Mr. Callaway was very successful in textiles and he also loved playing golf.

Mr. Callaway used clubs by “Hickory Sticks” which were made of hickory shafts and a steel core.
At games, Callaway would use clubs by “Hickory Sticks”. The golf clubs were constructed of hickory-shafts with a steel core.

The Hickory Stick company needed investors and Mr. Callaway bought 50% of it’s stock in 1982 and the company was renamed “Callaway Hickory Stick USA.” In 1983, he became president and moved the company to Carlsbad, California where he sold clubs out of his car!

In 1984, Mr. Callaway bought the rest of the company and eventually changed it’s name Callaway Golf Company in 1988.

Since then, Callaway Golf Company has been producing extraordinary high quality golf products.
